Research Methodology
Every research work uses methods which dataor information is gathered. Therefore, this paper presents the methods used in relevant data collection for the study.
Research Design
The nature of this study is qualitative. The study seeks to investigate the nature of money and elections in Nigeria and how it has affected the politics of the nation. Due to the nature of the research, the phenomenological research design was adopted.
Study Population
This study was carried out in four communities in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Sample and Sampling Technics
Random sampling technique was used to get a sample from the population. Random sampling means selecting a name or number in a basket or container without replacement. Therefore the researcher wrote down the names of the communities Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA in pieces of paper(one each) and folded them and put them into a basket. The basket was properly shaken so as to mix up the folded papers. Four were picked randomly which form the sample size of this study. They are
- Sabagreia.
- Okoloba.
- Opokuma.
- Igbedi.4
Research Instrument
To achieve the objective of the study, the instrument used by the researcher included a questionnaire, Key Informant Interview (KII) method, as primary data collection. The researcher used a tape recorder to record the responses of the respondents in the KII. As secondary data collection, books, journals, documentations and the internet were used.
Method of Data Analysis
The study adopted the content analysis method. The responses to all the questions in the questionnaire were tallied to derive the frequency distribution. These frequencies were subsequently converted to percentage equivalents using percentage (%).
